The SoHo Grand Hotel stands in the heart of the exciting
SoHo neighborhood, where 19th-century industrial buildings
with ornate cast-iron facades house tony galleries,
theaters, restaurants and shops. Guests will definitely
want to check out nearby Tribeca, Greenwich Village,
Chinatown, Wall Street and New York University. Kevin
Spacey, Spike Lee, k.d. lang and Naomi Campbell have
stayed here. |

Upon entering the hotel, patrons, including many from the
area's fashion and entertainment industries, ascend a suspended
iron staircase to the lobby, where they are greeted with 16-foot
windows draped with 900-pound velvet curtains. Yes, 900 pounds.
The ceiling is fashioned out of handmade mercury mirror glass
embedded with chicken wire.
Speaking of chicken, the hotel's Gallery and Grand Bar &
Lounge feature New American cuisine of Maple Barbecued Quail,
Steamed Lobster, Baked Brie Stuffed with Truffles, chocolate-dipped
homemade graham crackers with br?l?ed meringue.
What's more, pampered pooches and finicky felines can enjoy
walking, grooming, boarding, in-room dining, toys, full- body
pillows, grooming brushes, and doggie toothbrushes and toothpaste.
No pet? No sweat. Guests can borrow ebony or orange goldfish,
and even take them home in plastic carriers. We're not making
this up.
But what about the guestrooms? Splashed with palettes of grays
and coffee tones, the rooms are as eclectic as the neighborhood,
with eight-foot picture windows showcasing the unique downtown
perspective. Inspired by the Arts & Crafts Movement of
the late 1800s, they include draftsman desks and nightstands
styled like potter's tables. The rooms come complete with
Italian Frette linens and robes, fancy Blisslabs and Priv?
bathroom amenities, and entertainment centers with CDs of
artists who have stayed at the hotel.
